A Message of Hope

On this very celebrated day, Easter is the most holiest for those of the Christian faith like that of mine, Catholic. We celebrate this day to honor the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The message is also universal one, hope! American’s are very diverse as well as our global world today all of us can celebrate the notion of hope.

Hope to many of us means a better tomorrow, one that embodies less violence and more kindness and the Golden Rule ‘ Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do on to You.’ After the past six months, the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut to the wars in the Middle East leaving most of us with a feeling of a loss of hope.

Although there is many reasons to feel a loss of hope there are many reasons to look to hope for the near future. In our country there is much debate about gun violence and how to remedy this issue. Never before has our country been so profound, to make their voices known to have some controls put into place, universal background checks. On the social horizon with accepting other’s for their differences in life style, Supreme Court hearing arguments about same sex marriage.

Our world, has seen a big change in leadership of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis has been seen as more of a reformer and hands on leader than ever before. He is humble and a servant to the people no matter their ethnic or religion. (1.) According to CNA, “That the Holy Father, Francis, washed the feet of young men and women on his first Holy Thursday as Pope, should call our minds and hearts to the simple and spontaneous gesture of love, affection, forgiveness and mercy of the Bishop of Rome, more than to legalistic, liturgical or canonical discussions.” Furthermore, Pope Francis has not moved into the retreat instead he is staying in a more humble residence.

There is much change on the horizon, a message of hope is very clear. So this day is not just a celebration of Easter but a New Age of kindness. Look around and take in the good messages of act of humanity and remember how good we really can be as humans.

Happy Easter!
